Support continues to Carriacou at the Monthly Port Louis Marina Drinks

Port Louis Marina’s monthly 'Meet the Team Drinks' saw around 40 guests join on 31st July for a fun evening of interaction, generosity and a small celebration.

This event was extra special in that we asked guests to bring and donate water supplies for the devasted islands of Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

A generous amount of water was gratefully collected, to then be delivered by SY DAWDLE and her crew to Carricaou.

Zara Tremlett, GM at Port Louis Marina commented;

“I was particularly touched at the effort our guests had gone to, in order to obtain so many bottles of water, as many live-a-board cruisers may not have their own transport, so, it really does become quite an effort to haul cases and large bottles of water from the supermarket and back to the marina.  It was a heartfelt effort on behalf of our wonderful PLM community.  Thank you all!”

The Marine & Yachting Association of Grenada (MAYAG) was represented by the chair, Dawn De Coteau, who is also a Board Member of the National Disaster Management Agency of Grenada (NaDMA).  Dawn has been on the ground in both sister islands, helping to organise the distribution of aid on behalf of NaDMA and was able to share her incredible knowledge and experience to those in the Port Louis Marina community keen to help.

Dawn de Coteau commented, “The overall support for the devastated islands has been tremendous, we thank everyone who has contributed, in whatever way. MAYAG has set up a Go Fund Me account, accessible on Facebook and all donations are much appreciated.”

Funds raised will go towards the support of the fishing fleets, the yachting community and the environment all of which have been devasted by Hurricane Beryl.
